Information about the District

Originally the Board had presented a two tier program to the community asking for 5.9 mills this year and 2.9 mills in 2011, to maintain the existing levels of programs and/or services to the students. With the failure of the levy on May 4, 2010, the Board of Education has made some difficult decisions in recent weeks.

At the May 18, 2010, meeting the Board of Education made the decision that $1.2 million in revenue enhancements, expenditure reductions, and budget cuts would be implemented and reported in the five year forecast.  The result of the above action being reflected in the five year forecast means the district will still need to pass a 5.9 mill, 10 year operating levy in 2010 in order to avoid a deficit for the 2011 – 12 school year. Consequently, the Board has placed the 5.9 mill operating levy on the August 3, 2010 ballot.  For more information about the levy, click here.

However, in exchange for the $1.2 million in revenue enhancements, expenditure reductions and budget cuts, the Board of Education will NOT request the 2.9 mill additional operating levy in 2011.  Therefore the revenue enhancements, expenditure reductions and budget cuts are permanent even if the operating levy passes.
