SUMMER READING: HONORS LANGUAGE ARTS

Honors Language Arts classes differ from regular / standard Language Arts classes in that they typically:

  • move along at a more rapid pace,

  • require a deeper understanding of lesson concept,

  • demand increased rigor and focus,

  • carry a heavier work load,

  • involve more out-of-school study, and

  • require students to think and work more independently.

One expectation for Honors Language Arts is required summer reading, which is both an enriching and entertaining experience. Book selections will be discussed at the onset of the new school year by the teacher and students with graded assessments applied, accordingly. Please note the books below. If you have any questions, please contact the respective Honors Language Arts teacher.

Students should read the book for the grade they are entering. Copies of books can be purchased or are available on e-readers and at local libraries. Books must be completely read by the first day of school. We will be using these books to review characterization, plot, and theme throughout our first unit.
