CCP Information Night for 2019-2020 School Year

The State of Ohio requires that potential CCP participants and their parents attend an informational meeting prior to applying for the CCP program. Current CCP students and parents are not required to attend additional meetings; only first time CCP students and their parents are required to attend a meeting.

For your convenience, families may choose to attend one of the following meetings hosted by either LCCC or Cuyahoga Community College:

Mandatory CCP Procedures

  1. By April 1, 2019; Turn in an Intent to Participate Form to Student Services (for students new to CCP only; continuing CCP students do not need to turn this form in again).
  2. Students may use the Counseling Verification Form obtained at a CCP information session as their Intent to Participate Form, as this form is required of all CCP students (only filed one time, by students new to CCP).
  3. Complete and turn in the CCP Application to AHS Student Services (make sure both sides are complete and that parent/guardian has signed Section 3). AHS Counselors will attach transcripts and mail everything to LCCC.
  4. Student will receive acceptance letter in US Mail from LCCC with information on next steps. Students will be required to take the Accuplacer test on the LCCC campus (Accuplacer info below).
  5. Once Student is cleared to schedule LCCC classes, student must supply AHS Counselor with Course Authorization Form on which student has listed LCCC courses they are planning to take. Please allow AHS Counselors 24 hours to complete this form. Student will pick completed form up from Student Services office. Students who have not completed the Course Authorization form before the end of the school year in June will not be able to schedule LCCC courses until AHS Counselors return in August.
  6. Take completed Course Authorization From to LCCC to schedule courses and meet with an LCCC academic advisor.
  7. Deliver a copy of LCCC schedule to AHS Counselor ASAP! It is required that the LCCC schedule is on file with your AHS Counselor. Any time a change is made to the LCCC schedule, an updated copy must be give to the AHS Counselor.
  8. IMPORTANT! Students who want to apply to CCP after AHS Student Services has closed for summer have to wait until the Student Services office is opened in August. Late applying students will will not be able to schedule LCCC courses until AHS Counselors return in August.

CCP students/families are not responsible for college tuition provided students successfully complete courses. Students who fail courses or withdraw after the college refund deadline will be billed for the cost of the those courses. Below are some frequently asked questions that reference the AHS process for applying. Please contact Student Services at the High School if your child is interested in applying for CCP.

It is a state of Ohio program that offers college ready students the opportunity to earn college and high school credit at the same time by taking college courses from community colleges or universities. The purpose of this program is to promote rigorous academic pursuits and to provide a wide variety of options to college-ready students. Taking a college course from a public college or university is free. There is no cost for tuition, books, or fees provided that the student successfully completes the course. Students who fail courses or withdraw after the college refund deadline will be billed for the cost of those courses.

Students new to CCP must attend a CCP meeting with their parent(s)/guardian(s). There is one meeting offered at AHS each year, but both Lorain County Community College (LCCC) and Cuyahoga Community College (CCC) offer multiple meeting times and locations.

Students new to CCP must notify AHS by April 1st of the year prior to first CCP participation: you may use a signed Counseling Verification Form (available in Student Services and at the CCP Meetings) to notify AHS

Complete and turn in the CCP Application to AHS Student Services. Make sure that the application is complete, including the student’s Social Security Number and all required student and parent/guardian signatures. If you plan to use your ACT/SAT scores, please be sure to tell Student Services that you would like your ACT/SAT scores sent with your application.

Your counselor will attach a transcript and mail your application to the appropriate school. (including ACT/SAT scores if applicable)

It may take two weeks or more for you to receive an acceptance letter in the US Mail from the college with information on your next steps.

If you did not have your ACT/SAT scores sent to the college, you will be required to take the Accuplacer Exam on the college campus. There is no cost for this exam.

You must complete your portion of a Course Authorization Form (available in Student Services) and turn it in to Student Services. Please allow 24 hours for your AHS Counselor to complete their portion of the form. Once you pick up the form from Student Services, you can take the completed form to the college in order to schedule your courses for the upcoming semester.

Take the completed form to the college and work with one of their CCP advisors to schedule your courses for the upcoming semester. Please check with your college to see if you need to call ahead to schedule an appointment. You must schedule your colleges courses during the CCP time that you selected during scheduling at AHS.

You are required to provide your AHS counselor with a copy of your college schedule as soon as possible.

IF you turned in a Counseling Verification Form that year, you are able to participate in CCP. If you did not turn in a form, you can sign a Counseling Verification Form indicating when you attended a meeting and will then be able to participate in CCP
