Having a leadership role in the Avon Local School District makes me proud. My first role in the district was that of a classroom teacher at Avon High School which was housed at the current Avon Middle School. In 1994 I came to the district with two years of previous teaching experience and a Bachelors of Science in Education from Bowling Green State University. During my first four years in the district I taught senior and sophomore language arts. The school was a seven through twelfth grade facility. Those were great days in our school's history.
As a part of the district's levy committees and district's leadership, I was able to participate in the building and develop of Avon High School on the Detroit Road campus. These, too, were exciting times for the Eagles. When the facility opened in 1998, I was honored with the role of being the Assistant Principal. I served the district in that position for 12 years. I found a true calling in that role as I was able to work with at risk teens, curriculum and instruction, and served as the high school special education coordinator.
In 2011, the Avon Local School district named me principal of AHS. With two years under my belt, I am more excited than ever with the development of our schools and our amazing youth.
My husband and I have lived in the district since 1994. Avon is our home. It is here we are raising our two daughters. We are proud Eagle parents.
