August At A Glance
Welcome to the new AHS website!
Over the next several weeks you will see additional information added to the site so keep checking back.
The 2012-2013 school year is nearly here. The high school opening letter is set to be mailed by August 10th. Included in this mailing is important information regarding the start of the school year.
Freshmen and New Student Orientation will be held at AHS on August 21st from 6:30 to 8:30pm. Attendance at this event is considered a must for students, and we encourage a parent or guardian from each household to join us as well.
Schedules will be available for pick up prior to the first day should a student complete all of their necessary paperwork and attend one of the scheduling distributions in the high school commons. The distribution dates are August 20th from 9:00-11:30 & 12:00 to 3:00 and August 21st from 11:00-3:00. We do not collect fees at this time. Each student will received a customized fee list at the start of September. We recognize many households have Pay-to-Participate right now, so fees are not collected now.
All scheduling questions should be directed to Student Services which opens on August 13th. We now have three counselors. Their caseload and email is as follows:

As we are in competition with Avon Lake for the Third Annual SOUPer Bowl, all AHS households are asked to donate can goods at the scheduling distribution sessions or the first two days of school. Consider a $1.00 donation as each dollar will provide five pounds of food. All donations stay in our community. I can’t tell you how appreciative I have been of the CRS support of our students in need each and every school year. This is a very worthy cause.
Parents and students will be provided the ability to access our new student software soon. Our new gradebook provider is PowerSchool.
The first day of school is an August 23rd. Class meetings to review the student handbook will be held on August 24th throughout the school day.
Please sign up and/or re-subscribe for ENews as this will be heavily utilized to keep AHS households “in the know” throughout the school year. If you were previously subscribed, due to the new website, you will need to re-subscribe.
Open House will be held on September 5th at 7:00pm.
