The Avon Local School District Board of Education

The men and women elected to the Avon Board of Education serve for four year terms and provide valuable leadership to the school district. They are charged with the responsibility to oversee a school district set up to provide the best possible educational opportunities for the students enrolled, given financial restraints.

A school board sets educational goals and establishes policy for the school system based upon state laws and community values. No one person, on the board of education, has the authority or power to make a decision relative to the operations of the school district. Board members do not manage the day-to-day operations of the school district. However, they make decisions on a wide range of issues, such as setting district policy, goal-setting and long range planning, establishing budgets, levy taxes with a vote of the people to maintain schools, and the hiring and evaluating of a superintendent and treasurer. Decisions are only made by the board as a whole at a public meeting.

The Avon Board of Education generally meets the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 6:30 at Heritage North Elementary School in the media center. In addition, the board of education can hold special meetings. For more information, please refer to the additional information provided on this page.

It is our pleasure to introduce the 5 members that make up the Avon Board of Education:
