We hope that everyone has had a very safe and relaxing summer vacation!  The staff at Heritage South has been busy at work in preparation for the upcoming school year.  As the final days of summer break approach, we would like to take a moment to share a few helpful reminders regarding the important first few days of school:

This Friday (August 20th), class lists will be posted for the 3rd and 4th grade classes.  Parents and students are cordially invited to stop by the front entrance of Heritage South, starting at 3:00 to locate their names on the posted list of 2010-11 homerooms.  Great care was taken to match the individual needs of each student with a teacher to best craft an exciting and engaging school year for each student. 

All families are encouraged to meet their new teachers at Open House, which will be held at Heritage South on the night of Tuesday, August 24th from 5:30-7:30.  The school campus will be quite busy, as Heritage North will also be conducting their Open House at the same time.  This evening will be an excellent opportunity for students to meet their teacher and new classmates, tour the building, and find their desks, lockers, etc.

We are very excited for the first day of school, on Thursday, August 26th.  As a reminder, our school hours are 7:30-2:20.  Students may enter the building at 7:10 every morning, and we will begin dismissal procedures each day, starting at 2:13.  If your child rides the bus, the bus routes will be printed in this week's edition of the Press.  Also, we have had a few questions about the gifted programming offerings at Heritage South.  Although our Gifted Intervention Specialist, Mrs. Whiting will be available at Open House, we will be offering a GIS Informational Meeting for parents on Wednesday, September 1st at 6:30 in the Heritage South Media Center.  It is our hope that this everning will  provide parents with the opportunity to ask any questions and learn more about this program, if you are so inclined.
