AMS STUDENT SERVICES STAFF
Avon Middle School Student Services offices are conveniently located on the first floor in the center of the school facility. Students may visit the Social Worker in Room 100B, School Counselors in Rooms 100C/D, School Nurse in Room 100A, or School Psychologist in Room100L.
The general goals of the guidance and counseling program are to...
help students understand themselves and others, and to assist them in building self-confidence and self-esteem.
prevent problems from developing through preventative counseling programs that stress early detection of learning and social adjustment problems.
coordinate efforts between students, teachers, parents, and administrators.
implement crisis intervention techniques when disputes with peers or teachers, personal problems, family difficulties, or other situations make a student unhappy.
provide career education activities that help students become more aware of their own skills, and teach them about the world of work.
develop personalized programs based upon each student’s abilities, strengths, weaknesses, and emotional and intellectual needs.
assist in identifying students with special needs, such as abused or neglected children, those with developmental difficulties, gifted children, etc.
give students an opportunity to talk about their education and personal-social concerns, and help students better adjust to their school and home environments.
help interpret test information about abilities, achievement, interests and needs.
Lauren Eigenbrod, M.S.W.; LISW ~ School Social Worker
Lauren Eigenbrod joined Avon Local Schools in January 2019, coming from the Cleveland Clinic. She works at both Avon Middle School as well as Avon High School. Mrs. Eigenbrod is a licensed independent social worker, receiving a Bachelor of Science at Syracuse University and a Master of Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh.
In the role as a social worker, Mrs. Eigenbrod provides the link with the home, the school, and the community for direct and indirect services to students, their families, and school staff to support academic success and eliminate barriers. Her office is located off the AMS Commons in Room 100B.
Mrs. Eigenbrod was born and raised in Northeast Ohio and lives in the area with her husband and her son. In her free time she enjoys traveling and spending time with friends and family. She is excited to be a part of Avon Local Schools and to work with amazing Avon students and families. Go Eagles!
Maria Enourato, M.A. ~ School Counselor (students with last name A - K)
Maria Enourato moved from New Jersey to northeast Ohio in 2008 and joined Avon Local Schools in the summer of 2011 as an AMS School Counselor. Mrs. Enourato obtained her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Delaware in Psychology and earned a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Georgian Court University. She is a member of the Lorain County Schools Crisis Counseling Team, the Lorain County Prevention Connection, and the Avon Schools Continuous Improvement Plan Committee.
Mrs. Enourato is very passionate about her work and seeks to help struggling students meet their optimal potential at school. She understands that middle school children need support, structure, and guidance with a listening ear. She seeks to reach all her students at AMS with a proactive, rather than reactive, approach. Her office is located off the AMS Commons in Room 100D.
Mrs. Enourato is married and has two children who attend the Avon schools. In her free time, she enjoys running, shopping, theater, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. She is very happy to be a part of the Avon schools and having an opportunity to work with students and their families in the Avon community -- "Home of the Eagles!"
Cammy Small, L.P.N. ~ School Nurse
Cammy Small is our School Nurse who operates the Nurse Clinic five days a week (9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.) in Room 100A, adjacent to the AMS Main Office. Nurse Cammy is a Licensed Practical Nurse employed through Lorain County Public Health, located at 9880 Murray Ridge Road in Elyria (440-322-6367). She has 22 years of experience mainly in Family Practice. For the last five years he has worked as a school nurse.
Nurse Cammy has lived in northeast Ohio her entire life, is married, and has two children who have attended the Avon schools. She loves watching the various school band performances and interscholasic volleyball games.
Becky Speicher, M.Ed. ~ School Counselor (students with last name L - Z)
Becky Speicher joined Avon Local Schools in the summer of 2015. She studied psychology at the University of Dayton where she earned a Bachelor of Arts. Later she enrolled in the School Counseling program at John Carroll University where she received her Master in Education Degree. Mrs. Speicher is a member of the American Counseling Association, the Ohio School Counselor Association, the Lorain County Schools Crisis Counseling Team, and the Lorain County Prevention Connection.
Mrs. Speicher completed her field work in Westlake City Schools and Avon Local Schools. In 2014 she interned in Avon Middle School, working closely with Student Services to master the programs and curriculum that the school offers to our students. She joined the AMS staff in 2015 and continues striving to reach students' needs through classroom guidance lessons, social groups, new student groups, and individual counseling. Mrs. Speicher's office is located off the AMS Commons in Room 100C.
Mrs. Speicher grew in northeast Ohio and lives in the area with her husband and two children. During her spare time, she enjoys live performances, traveling, shopping, reading, and spending time with family and friends. She is very happy to have the opportunity to work with students and their families in the Avon community. Go Eagles!
Megan Sprenger, M.Ed.; Ed.S.; LPCC-S ~ School Psychologist
Megan Sprenger joined the Avon Local School District in August 2019, coming from Brunswick City Schools. Megan was with the Avon school district during her internship year and is excited to be returning to the Avon Eagle family.
Prior to working as a school psychologist, Megan was a mental health therapist in the private practice setting and has six years working for a bereavement center. She received her Bachelor and Master degrees from John Carroll University. Further, she is licensed in school psychology and school counseling, and is a licensed professional clinical counselor. Mrs. Sprenger's office is located in the AMS Main Office in Room 100L.
Mrs. Sprenger has two children and enjoys cheering them on for the numerous activities. She also enjoys cooking, being with her family and friends, and being outdoors as much as possible.
