1:1 School Chromebook Initiative

1:1 School Chromebook Initiative - Phase Two Continues This Year (2025-2026 School Year)

This fall, the technology department will continue with the second phase of a two-year transition plan to ensure each student has a school-issued Chromebook by fall of the 2026-2027 school year. This 1:1 School Chromebook Initiative is in an effort to ensure consistent compatibility and equitable access to all school programs and learning/assessment platforms. We aim to give as much advance notice as we can to hopefully alleviate unnecessary technology purchases for future grade-level rollouts.

(For Phase One in the 2024-2025 school year, all students in grades 1-3 were issued a school-owned Chromebook.)

For Phase Two in the 2025-2026 school year, all students in grades 1-6 will already have or newly be issued a school-owned Chromebook.

Students entering grades 2, 3, and 4 will keep their Chromebooks from the year prior.

Students entering grades 1, 5, and 6 will be issued new Chromebooks.

Bring Your Own Technology/Devices (BYOT/BYOD) will no longer be available for grades 1-6 and any personal Chromebooks/learning devices for students in those grades will need to remain at home.

Students in grades 7-12 may choose to borrow a school device. BYOT/BYOD (Chromebook) will continue as an option for grades 7-12.

For the Final Phase in the 2026-2027 school year, all students in grades 1-12 will already have or newly be issued a school-owned Chromebook.

Students entering grades 2, 3, 4, 6, and 7 will keep their Chromebooks from the year prior.

Students entering grades 1, 5, and 9 will be issued new Chromebooks. (Students in grades 5 and 9 who already have a school Chromebook will trade theirs in for a replacement.)

Any student in any other grade who does not yet have a school Chromebook will be issued one.

BYOT/BYOD will no longer be an option for student learning devices. (We will continue to support BYOT/BYOD as needed for special/medical circumstances that require personal devices and WiFi access.)
