It is an extremely exciting time to be part of the Avon Local School District. The district’s student enrollment continues to grow, we are in the midst of a middle school construction project and our student academic and extra-curricula's are excelling. Among these reasons and more, I feel privileged to be the district’s new treasurer, active since December 16, 2013. Over the past several months I have had the opportunity to meet with administrators, teachers, staff and parents. In each of those encounters, I have felt welcomed, part of the team but most importantly, I feel that I will bring some added experience to the district.
I have served as a treasurer in central Ohio and most recently in an adjacent county. Prior to becoming a treasurer, I worked with the State Auditor’s Office in the Performance Audit Division for several years. Growing up in the Ashland area, I graduated from Ashland High School and Ashland University with a degree in business administration. My goal is to start my master’s in education administration this coming fall at Ashland University. I feel this degree will give me a heighted understanding of our academic goals in relation to fiscal constraints as we make both short and long term educational and future financial goals.
Mr. Zeman, the prior treasurer, has left the district’s finances and fiscal reporting in great shape. I will continue to be as transparent and upfront as what the community is accustomed to and expects. I am always willing to answer questions and provide any financial information needed to promote accountable of taxpayers’ dollars. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me or call and I will get the information to you as soon as possible. In future additions of the Avenue, I fully expect to be including financial information that will help keep you informed on how the district is accounting for your dollars.
