SchoolMessenger Automated Notification Service
Avon Local Schools utilizes SchoolMessenger to deliver important communications to parents, guardians, students and staff.
If you would like SchoolMessenger to deliver text messages straight to your mobile phone with important information about events, schools closings, safety alerts and more, you must “OPT-IN”. In order to "Opt-In", your mobile phone number must be in our student information system. Once it is in our system, you can participate in this free service* just by sending a text message of “Y” or “Yes” to our schools short code number, 67587.
You can also opt out of these messages at any time by simply replying to one of our messages with “Stop”.
SchoolMessenger is compliant with the Student Privacy Pledge, so you can rest assured that your information is safe and will never be given or sold to anyone.
*Terms and Conditions - Message frequency varies. Standard message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help. Text STOP to cancel. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. See schoolmessenger.com/txt for more info.
You will receive calls from a specific school building (e.g. delayed bus, cancellation of a concert, etc.) or from the Superintendent's office (e.g. school closing). If the alert is from a specific school the call display shows the office phone number. If the alert is from the Superintendent's office the call display will show 1-888-882-7179.
When SchoolMessenger reaches an answering machine, it plays the message twice in case the beginning is cut off. In order for SchoolMessenger to be used to its full potential it is critical that the school office(s) keep student/parent information current and up to date. Information used by SchoolMessenger is pulled from PowerSchool. If you change your address or contact number(s) during the school year we ask that you contact the appropriate school office as outlined below.
If you do not want SchoolMessenger to call or send email messages to you, please notify your child's school (outlined above). We will take you off the distribution lists.
